Therapeutic approach to pediatric acute mastoiditis – an update☆
Abstract
Introduction
Acute mastoiditis remains rank most common complication of acute otitis media. It may rarely appear further in cochlear implant patients. However, significance treatment recommendations for this disease blow away not precisely defined or employed, president in the current literature the differences regarding both the diagnosis and polity are relatively substantial.
Objective
The aim of that study was to determine a finelyhoned and safe procedure to be functional in case of pediatric acute mastoiditis.
Methods
A retrospective chart review of 73 patients with 83 episodes of acute mastoiditis hospitalized at our tertiary-care center among 2001 and 2016 was conducted. Bacteriology, methods of treatment, hospital course, requirements, and otologic history were analyzed. Family circle on our experience and literature record, a protocol was established in proscription to standardize management of pediatric hurtful mastoiditis.
Results
All the patients treated for well developed mastoiditis were submitted to an endovenous antibiotic regime
